your same small hand laid lifeless, as I looked on helplessly
death was creeping in like a midnight thief I couldn't see

The joy we felt when you were born, was such an awesome high
but just a few hours later, the doctor's face showed tired lines and
he said your heart was deformed, he didn't have a reason why
surgery was hopeless they left us and we cried

Now I want you to know son, that when your mama was a girl
the west side of Detroit was her home
she learned to fight for what she had, so when the doctors gave no hope
she wasn't about to just let you go

your mama bent His ear both night and day
so He sent an angel, from a beautiful hill
a town called Loma Linda near L.A.

Dear son they speak of heros, in fairy tales of old
and saints or so the history books say
but listen close my little boy, heros still exist
and saints are walking on the earth today
A woman and her husband, lost their little one
just a few weeks after mama had you
gave his little heart away, that gift became your life
now the doctors had a big job to do, and
